EU Report on Sustainable Use of Phosphorus launched

The 'Sustainable Use of Phosphorus' Report commissioned by D.G. Environment has been launched and is now available for public download at: http://ec.europa.eu/environment/natres/phosphorus.htm

The Report demonstrates that while the European Union has for many decades seen itself as a food secure region, the EU food system is in fact highly vulnerable to future phosphorus scarcity. The EU is almost entirely dependent on imported phosphate. The Report was prepared by researchers at Wageningen Univeristy and the Stockholm Environment Institute.
